Resum

This paper explores the transformations experienced by those positions of dissidence to the established social order in the context of contemporary Western societies. This research visualises the relationships, interactions and situations that facilitated or encouraged these subjective transformations along the emotional elements surrounding these changes. Using biographic narrative productions the research identifies "subjective epistemological transformations"; transformations in the principles guiding the understanding of social reality. People who practice economic, kinship, political or symbolic dissent in everyday practices are included as participants. These narratives draw three common elements that in the understanding of the transformation process: (1) the disturbing effect of censorship; (2) the experiences of discomfort between hegemonic and dissident experiences; and (3) belonging to a dissident group as a form of comfort and opening of new possibilities.
