Resum

This article overviews the main labour market and social protection system reforms undertaken to comply with the principle of equality and non-discrimination as established in Article 14 of the Spanish Constitution. The paper goes through main policy changes related to the protection of pregnancy, maternity, paternity and the caring of small children and other dependents. It concludes that reforms introduced over the last decades have promoted inclusion and removed all possible discriminatory mechanism against women.

The high volume of precarious employment in the Spanish labour market however continues to be the main hindrance to a de facto equal treatment of all workers.
