    Resum

The aim of this paper is to show that the work content of in-house translators is heterogeneous. Applying concepts taken from sociology of work and organisational studies, a review and analysis arc made of several empirical studies carried out in the field of translation studies. These studies have in common four indicators of the heterogeneous nature of the work carried out by in-house translators in private and public organisations. Our analysis of these studies focuses on the following indicators: (1) the rise in hybrid internal positions in job advertisements; (2) the quantitative and qualitative measurement of the time actually spent on translation activities proper; (3) the mixture of translation activity proper and the management of translation processes; (4) the heterogeneous nature of trainee translators' work placements in translation services. The results of our analysis allow us to conclude that the work organisation in translation companies reflects the new social division of work - flexible working.
