Resum

Heavy metals can be found, although at trace levels, in many water bodies, and all of them are listed as polluting substances. We present a new strategy for the automatic monitoring of heavy metals in water using Carbon Dots (CDs) as selective optical labels. It consists of a Reverse Flow Injection Analysis (RFIA) approach implemented in a Cyclic Olefin Copolymer (COC)-microfluidic system. Heavy metal quantification is based on measurement of fluorescence quenching by a miniaturized optical detection system.
