Resum

In this study there is realized a review of the most relevant published articles about the heart rate variability concept (HRV). There are analyzed the HRV concept, the measurement methods, the principal studied parameters and finally, the relations due to the clinical aspects. The HRV analysis has been demonstrated as a very useful tool to control the athlete training performance and the general population healthy status too. The precocious predictability of fatigue and overtraining is the most important application in the sports medicine area. In the last years it is observed an increasing number of specializing publications about HRV in sports medicine as a non-invasive, effective and fast system. However, further investigations are needed to apply the whole potential of the HRV, for example, offering to the professionals a direct, simple and comfortable interpretation of the different parameters that offers the HRV analysis.
