Gold nanoparticles are formed by reduction of gold(III) species and are stabilized by compounds featuring long perfluoroalkyl chains. X-ray diffraction suggests that the nanoparticles are entrapped within the fluorinated compound. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
