Resum

The Final Year Project (TFG - Treball de Final de Grau) is a compulsory subject in the final year of the Bachelor’s degree. Under the supervision of a tutor, students demonstrate the ability to apply acquired skills and know-how in a specific academic or professional field, which can be an area where research has already been carried out or as yet to be studied. This article explains how the TFG has been implemented in the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and provides an initial analysis of the results. These not only relate to the dynamics of the subject, the quality of the work and its idiosyncrasies, but also the question of storing TFGs in an open-access repository when completed. The framework of the Autonomous University of Barcelona provides students with the option of publishing their TFG in its Digital Documents Deposit (DDD), a virtual space created to increase the visibility and the impact of research. Posting a TFG on the DDD is potentially useful for students when looking for a job, yet a significant percentage of them choose not to.
