Resum

This article is based on the historical analysis of the most important transformations of the Spanish football in the first half of the twenties, from the study of the performance of the Spanish team in the Olympics in Antwerp (1920) and Paris (1924). This study also aims to analyze the role of press and football in the construction of the national identity and the creation of new sports heroes, in a period of gradual implementation of professionalism in the process of development of mass society.
