Resum

The neoformation of adenohypophyseal epithelium was studied in a series of 200 chick embryos (Leghorn-Cornish). The embryos were operated on at stage 11-12 HH. Extirpation of the T.V. and transection of the A.V. caused abnormal growth of the diencephalon and the roof of the stomodaeum. In this way, the diencephalic neuroepithelium and the roof of the stomodaeum came into contact over a much wider area than in normal development. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the ability of the stomodaeal roof to produce adenohypophyseal tissue through the inductive action of the diencephalic floor in more advanced stages and over a wider area.
