Resum
The research agenda of state transformations in Latin America in the last decade cannot ignore the analysis of the way in which the social role of the state is developing, that is, of those interventions related to the production of social welfare and care. To this end two theoretical exercises that help enrich this work are performed: 1) The description of the appropriation by Latin America scholars of the seminal texts on welfare regimes produced for and from developed countries - highlighting the contribution made by Esping-Andersen - ; as well as the feminist critique of such contributions. 2) Presenting innovations to construct theoretical and methodological proposals that can capture the transformations in the region in the post-Washington consensus period.
