Encuentros históricos entre el género documental y el medio digital: Hacia la conformación del documental interactivo

This article examines the parallel evolution experienced by the interactive digital
media and the documentary genre from the XVII century until the early years of
the XX century. The confluence of these two spheres allowed the birth of the interactive documentary; a new audiovisual genre that is in a gestation, growing up and adaptation stage to the media environment. This new logic of interactive, non-fiction production is looking for its own space –definition and characterization- placed on a complex border territory –between documentary and interactive media- and looks for an stabilization that leads it into consolidation and settlement, -related to its organization and production- Knowing its origins and initial development will allow us to go depth in a new interactive audiovisual genre.
