Resum

Based on the analysis of 26 in-depth interviews with daughters of mixed couples (in which one of its members is of Maghrebian origin) residing in Barcelona and Granada, this article shows how the identity processes of these young women can be influenced by the perception of their Muslimness. The stigma of the "Moor", historically rooted in Spanish society, is conveyed through stereotyped and visible markers, that immediately place the person who is or seems Muslim in the position of the "other", giving rise to differential treatment. These findings ¡ challenges the idealised notion of mixedness as a diluter of differences and discrimination.
