Resum

Chilean Spanish is a group of dialects comprising several varieties of the Spanish language as spoken in Chile. It includes different dialects, such as Andean Spanish, spoken in the north, or Chiloé Spanish, spoken in the archipelago of Chiloé. Chilean Spanish is considered to be among the most distinctive, peculiar and easily identifiable varieties of Spanish. The origin of the colonisers of Chile, who came mainly from Andalusia and Extremadura, has shaped Chilean Spanish. Some differentiating features within American Spanish are due to the influence of the indigenous languages spoken in Chile, especially Mapudungun, but also Quechua and Aymara.
