Resum
An analysis of the Anglosaxon, French and Spanish geographical schools study of flood hazard. This paper focuses on the different periods in which these contributions locate themselves, and, also, on the different conceptual and thematic frameworks characterising them. The aim is to demonstrate the existence of a clear process of internalisation of flood hazard into the wider setting of human and social factors. Thus floods should not be studied exclusively from a physical point of view but rather, they must be seen in the light of the historical, social and economic structures influencing nature-society relations.
