Resum
Purpose: Intensive polychemotherapy regimens have contributed to the survival rate increase in children affected by non Hodgkin lymphoma. This therapeutic approach is followed by adverse effects among them myelosuppression and mucositis which interfere with the right therapeutic follow up. Material and Methods: With the purpose to value filgastrim's efficacy in the prevention of these adverse effects, we have studied two patient groups affected by non Hodgkin lymphomas and treated with induction chemotherapy protocols LMB 89 and LMT 89. Results: We have not observed relevant differences in recovery periods of severe neutropenia, although mucositis incidence was reduced in the group treated with filgastrim. Conclusions: These results suggest that filgastrim has a direct local effect in the protection of digestive mucous and this is not mediated by neutropenia recovery.
