N2 - Background: During the first months in the labour market, many nursing professionals face barriers that might influence the application of their training received during their degree. Aim: To describe the design and validation of the Model for evaluating Training Transferability factors of new Nursing professionals (METEnf) during their first year of experience in the labour market. Method: The model was based on a literature review and focus group in order to create the questionnaire items. The METEnf content validity was tested using expert groups. Its psychometric qualities were evaluated with a sample of 33 nursing professionals, which was also used as a pilot test. Results: The questionnaire showed a good internal consistency, which started its validation process. The results also indicated that nursing professionals are highly motivated to learn during their first year of being employed. Nonetheless, they considered that the training received in their degree, as well as the presence of a mentor hinder their possibilities to transfer what they have learned into their nursing activities. Conclusions: This study shows the possibilities of using the METEnf tool to evaluate the factors that influence the training transferability of new nursing professionals, even though there is a need to intervene in training, as well as the mentor figure, in order to facilitate this process.
