Resum

A total of 37 discoid menisci were found, 24 symptomatic and 13 casual findings. The series consisted of 21 men and 15 women. One 32-year-old male had bilateral lesions. In accordance with the Watanabe classification, 19 discoid menisci were incomplete and 18 were complete; none was a Wrisberg type ligament. The most frequent clinical presentation was pain in the outer knee compartment. Seventeen menisci were intact, although 4 were symptomatic. Twenty menisci had some type of rupture. The most frequent meniscal lesion was complex rupture. Altogether, 13 partial meniscectomies and 11 total meniscectomies were performed. In 87% of the cases, functional results were excellent or good according to the Ikeuchi scoring system.
