N2 - Coordination polymer particles (CPPs) have recently emerged as a new family of nanoparticles. The potential multifunctionality of these nanosystems and the flexibility of their coordination chemistry open new perspectives in different fields, including medicine. This review outlines the most recent advances in this field, from CPP synthesis to their use as smart drug delivery systems, bioimaging probes or a combination of both. © 2013 Elsevier B.V.
