Resum

The equilibrium reactions between Cd(II) and 2-mercaptopropionic acid (H2A) have been studied in 3.0 M NaClO4 at 25°C, by measuring the e.m.f. of the glass and Cd(Hg) electrodes as a function of the pH of the solution. In the range of 2.5 < -log [H+] < 4.5 the formation of a precipitate is observed. At -log [H+] > 4.5 the precipitate disappears. The e.m.f. data obtained in the range 4.5 < -log [H+] < 9.3, treated by the general minimizing program LETAGROP, can be explained by assuming the formation of the species CdA2, Cd2A3 and Cd3A4. A reaction equation is proposed and the formation constants for these species are given. © 1977.
