Resum

The levels of C3, C4 and C3PA were assessed in 75 samples of serum taken from 39 patients suffering from disseminated lupus erythematosus and from 39 reference subjects. Significantly lower C3 (p 0.005) and C4 (p 0.0001) count were detected in the patients in comparison with the reference group, while the level of C3PA was higher in the patients than in the healthy subjects (p 0.000001); in only 3 of the patients were lower than normal C3PA values detected. No relation was observed between the AAN titer or the administration of corticosteroids and the levels of C3, C4 and C3PA. In cases of histologically proved nephropathy, lower values of C3 and C4 were detected, although these were not statistically significant.
