Resum

The results of a study of 162 patients with diverse hepatobiliary diseases in whom gamma glutamyl transpeptidase and lipoprotein X were determined are reported. In the group of patients in which the presence or absence of cholestasis was histologically determined, it was shown that lipoprotein X was much more sensitive and specific (p<0,001) than the gamma glutamyl transpeptidase value (p<0,05) when used to determine the diagnosis of cholestasis. The positivity of lipoprotein X in patients with primitive or metastatic liver tumors is also emphasized.
