Resum

The aim of this study was to investigate the communicative strategies present in the discourse of patients with dementia of the Alzheimer's type (DAT). No quantitative difference was found in the number of strategies used by the DAT case with moderate-severe cognitive decline and controls. The results also showed the use of turn-taking and theme management strategies. However, patients showed a pattern in which more turn-taking strategies were present. Theme management strategies were predominantly used by the DAT patients with mild to moderate cognitive decline, showing a pattern of hiperactivation of theme management strategies.
