Resum
The present article studies mechanisms and strategies used by the founders of the important aristocratic Malaga lineage of the Señores de Casapalma to elevate themselves within the nobility and ensure the position for their descendants. A good relationship maintained by these founders with the monarchy generated numerous favours during the Granada wars. These benefits were used to create a fortune and consolidate it through establishing an entailed estate. Original documents are analysed, mainly extracted from the Nobility Section of the National Historic Archives. These documents allow the study of the trajectory of the first two generations of Señores de Casapalma, from the moment they obtained their first favours in 1486 until the purchase of their inheritance jurisdiction in 1559.
