Resum

Avel·li Artís Gener, post colonialism and translation Avel·lí Artís-Gener, also known as Tísner, was a true man of letters committed to language and literature, and translation was yet another of his intellectual activities that helped to influence Catalan culture. Within that field special mention should be made of his translations of some leading works of Latin American literature: One Hundred Years of Solitude; Chronicle of a Death Foretold; The Aleph and Los Cachorros. This article analyses the clear presence in his life and work of the concepts of otherness, colonialism and the subversion of power, concepts which also open up consideration of his contribution as a translator from a new standpoint.
