Resum
It has been 175 years from the beginning of the births and deaths series in the city of Barcelona. These annual series are almost completed. The anniversary is a good reason to review the analysis of the three demographic variables that have explained population growth (natality, mortality and migration) during this period. Migration, in its different forms, regional, interregional and international, has been a determinant factor in Barcelona's demographic evolution; this is the reason why the analysis of this variable plays a major role in this paper. Previous researchers have analyzed the demographic evolution of Barcelona's municipality. This work, however, includes new elements for the analysis: it goes back to 1834 in the birth and deaths series (which never before have been included together), specific fertility rates have been calculated since 1927, and specific net migration rates have been reconstructed from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day.
