Migrant Inclusion Through Locally designed Experiences

The objective of the project is to create a sustainable ecosystem and a replicable cooperation between the municipalities and local migrant led associations following the specific features and needs of each city involved in the project. Supported by the science for policy approach, MILE aims at setting up inclusive consultative mechanisms for each city involved, in the area that is the most impacted by the migrant presence and agency. The ultimate scope is to enhance the possibility for the migrants to not only raise their voices and participate in a
meaningful way but also to co-create and co-design integration policies in their localities, based on their urgent needs. At the same time, MILE will give to the municipality valid tools to assess the real necessities of the local migrant community. Supported by the science policy advocacy approach led by the research institutions involved in the project, MILE aims at setting up consultative mechanisms in each city in the area that is the most impacted by the migrant presence. The ultimate scopes are to enhance the possibility for the migrants settled in the city to have a voice on their own to
express the needs they feel being the most urgent for their integration process and at the same time to give to the municipality a valid tool to assess the real necessity of a part of the population who is usually marginalized and neglected. Besides, the creation of new, stable, and potentially growing connections between the municipalities and the civil society organizations notably the migrants associations and the research institutions, is one of the added values and goals of the project .
