The group investigates the representation of war and its presence in peacetime in contemporary culture, focusing on trauma, post-memory and aesthetic re-creations of conflict, and their resolution. It gathers researchers exploring the intersection of war with literature and culture. We focus mostly on the anglophone world, but now reach out to other traditions, such as German.
In the university curriculum, we teach courses at MA level on war,  modernity and crisis; from 2024, a course on the representation of war will become part of the degree syllabus. We also supervise dissertations at undergraduate, MA and PhD level.
We publish quality research in journals and books, organize seminars and conferences, notably the successful 2021 international conference. We received funding for a Ministry project (2018-2021) that enabled us to strengthen our European dimension and undertake research at major libraries and archives.
